Women in Technology—Addressing the Gender Gap

Only 27% of all computer science (CS) positions in the federal government are filled by women. Demographics indicate that this percentage is dropping: women make up approximately 30% of the CS population aged 40 to 60, but only 16% of those under 40. Despite expanding opportunities, women are not pursuing academic studies or careers in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) fields in representative numbers.

Diversity, including gender equity, is critical to an agile, innovative and productive workforce. This special event will feature a screening of an acclaimed new documentary on this important issue, CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap. An expert panel of women will discuss the challenges raised in the film, explore potential mitigating actions and respond to questions.
